Roll the account from beginning balance to the GL

Paste one balance-sheet account's GL detail for the period, with its beginning balance and its ending balance per the GL. Your browser sorts every posting into additions, accruals, reversals, payments, reclasses and FX, foots the schedule and ties each line to the rows behind it. If it does not foot, the browser works the gap instead of plugging it. All free, before you sign in. Then the desk decides whether the schedule can go into the close package and writes the exceptions, the support requests and the file note. Every amount it writes is checked against your schedule.

The examples are invented companies. Each comes with a saved review, one per outcome, so you can see the whole page without signing in or spending a credit.

Balances in the account's natural sign: a liability's credit balance as a positive number.

Last period's accruals (optional: to match this period's reversals)
One accrual per line: reference, description, amount.

Read in your browser. Nothing uploads until you run the review.

Paste the GL detail and both balances to price the review.

What this does, and what it does not

The schedule is computed, not guessed. Each posting goes to a line by the first rule that applies: your own assignment, a component column in the paste, the journal source (REV, ACCR, PAY, AP, SJ, FX, RECLASS and their usual spellings) or a memo keyword. A posting no rule places stays on the unclassified line and still counts toward the foot. The schedule must foot: beginning balance plus every line equals the ending balance per GL, within your tolerance.

When it does not, the difference is worked, never plugged. Three causes can be proved from the numbers alone: a close-package beginning balance that differs from the GL at prior-period end, postings dated outside the period, and exact duplicate rows. They are tested alone and together, and only a combination that closes the gap exactly is called its cause. Anything else, such as a posting of exactly the gap's size, one that is half of it, or a gap divisible by nine, is shown as a candidate to check. The page has no ERP connection and never posts an entry. The review judges and explains from the schedule alone and cites nothing else.
